Hi Guys, I'm trying to update my Zumo 660 with the City Navigator Europe NT 2014.30 - Map+P+3D, Oct 13 maps. All I seem to be able to do is get a worldwide basemap. Family Fortunes Theme Tune Mp3 here. I have a 4 gb sd card that was new before the upgrade. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but all I get is a worldwide basemap and no POIs.

The update I'm using is part of the 'free map updates' do I need to get the lifetime updates to fix this? I've tried with Garmin Express and Mapupdater with the same results. Thanks for the help! All I seem to be able to do is get a worldwide basemap.Its quite possible that the full map product won't fit in your 660's internal memory. Both Garmin Express and GarminMapUpdater will, by default, only load partial maps if that is the case. It sounds like this is what occurred and that maps of your area weren't loaded. To put it another way you may have map detail in other areas just not where you are currently.

I don't know about the Zumo's but my 1490T says in the map info page 'Lower 49' (states in the US) since that's all I have in internal memory. I don't know the region names in CN Europe are but it might be worth checking EXACTLY what you have loaded.

Well for a start exactly what does it say if you check the map info detail in your unit? I don't know the menu structure of Zumo's but somewhere in the menu system there should be a page that says what maps are present. Now in your case that is City Navigator NT Europe 2014.30 but WHAT ELSE does it say? As I said in my 1490T it has a 'Lower 49' suffix meaning that only the contiguous lower 49 states (no Alaska, Canada or Mexico) maps are present. Does your Zumo also show a suffix? For example it may say 'Western Europe' in which case Eastern Europe maps would be missing. There are a few ways to find out exactly but they're rather technical.

With your Zumo 660m connected to your computer open BaseCamp. In the top left pane of the window (PC version) you should see your Zumo 660 listed under Devices and the maps it has on it. Double-click on the map name and BaseCamp will show the maps on the unit and it'll zoom to what's present. For example when I do this with my 1490T the zoom level is set so Canada is not showing completely (since Canada is not loaded on the unit).

Also zooming in will show road detail where it is present and conversely where it's not. I think that I've figured out the problem, although I'm not sure how to fix it.

In BaseCamp, manage maps and Unlock Regions, there's nothing listed there. Am I right in thinking there should be? And the unlock codes should be in my account? They aren't recognised when I put them in so I think the only way to fix this is to buy the lifetime maps, which I was planning on, but if I could have got the update for free for the year then I would have taken it! I'll buy the updates tomorrow and go from there. Thanks for your help STUARTMW and SUSSAMB and if I can't fix it I'll revert here.
