TV tuner install on Ubuntu with PPA PPA makes it easy to install Hauppauge TV tuners with Ubuntu. PPA's are the only way to get Hauppauge drivers updated in Ubuntu between distro releases. Hauppauge's engineering team has developed the PPA for our TV tuners. Hauppauge technical support tested various Hauppauge TV tuners with Ubuntu Desktop, and has created both a video and a list of steps to install the TV tuners on Ubuntu Desktop 14.04.2.

Hi, Hauppauge has released an open source Linux driver for its HD PVR 2 model 1512, capable of capturing a 1080p video stream over HDMI. So, the HD PVR 2 has a few Alpha/Beta drivers under Linux. My required driver is located here.

WinTV-HVR-955Q Raspbian Jessie The current version of Raspbian Jessie comes with Kernel 4.1 and it already includes support for the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955Q. You will also need the firmware which is not included with Raspbian Jessie. You can download the Conexant cx231xx USB firmware v4l-cx231xx-avcore-01.fw for the WinTV-HVR-955Q from Linuxtv.org You will need to copy the firmware file to /lib/firmware and reboot the system. That is all you need to load the TV tuner firmware and get the WinTV-HVR-955Q device detected. OpenElec The current version of OpenELEC 6.0.1 Kernel also has support out of the box for the WinTV-HVR-955Q.
